The Girls’ Winter Cup is right around the corner and our Development Academy teams will soon be making the journey down to Florida. The Winter Cup will be held from December 9th – 14th in Lakewood Ranch, located just south of Tampa.
The Winter Cup serves as the perfect platform for talent identification. All players participating in the DA have the opportunity to be seen by U.S. Soccer National Team scouts as well as college coaches and scouts at all DA games. Hundreds of scouts attend the Development Academy Showcase events, providing multiple opportunities during the season for all players to be seen.
Seacoast United will be sending the U15, U16 & U17 girls’ teams. The U15s coached by Ross Yeoman will be playing FC United Soccer Club (NY), Lamorinda Soccer Club (CA) and Arlington Soccer Association (VA). The U16s, led by Andrew Branton will take on Placer United Soccer Club (CA), United Soccer Alliance (FL) and Sporting Omaha (NE). Finally, the U17s headed up by Soren Balea will play Colorado Rush (CO), Utah Royals (UT), and Baltimore Armour (MD).
“Without doubt the US Soccer Development Academy program provides the best environment for players to develop at their clubs.” commented Director of Soccer Iain Scott. “The Showcase event in Lakewood Ranch, Florida allows those players to perform in front of the largest gathering of National Scouts and college coaches anywhere in the US.” Scott went on to say, “I think our girls have a fantastic chance of getting looked at from dozens of scouts from around the country.”
