This past weekend Seacoast United Field Hockey hosted their first ever true indoor field hockey event in part with USA Field Hockey. The U16 & U19 NITQ’s (National Indoor Tournament Qualifier) took place at The Rim Sports Complex in Hampton, NH.

Each tournament had 16 teams involved with the top 8 teams advancing to the 2020 National Indoor Tournament either in Lancaster, PA (U16) or Richmond, VA (U19). Seacoast United Field Hockey has made significant strides in terms of improving the overall indoor curriculum and skill set within the club. This was the fourth consecutive year that Seacoast United participated in true indoor field hockey and the focus on true indoor training is starting to pay dividends. The club saw four teams qualify for the NIT (U16 Navy, U16 Red, U19 Navy and U19 Carolina) which is a fantastic achievement.

“We really wanted to focus on this part of our program and after this past weekend’s results we know we are on the right track,” said Field Hockey Director Sarah Michaud. “We are extremely proud of the players and staff and know that this sets the stage perfectly for the next round.”

This coming weekend will see four more teams competing at Smith College, and the hope is that they too will experience the same success. The NITs take places next month and will also see two Seacoast United u12 and two u14 teams competing along with the other teams who recently qualified in the U16 and U19 age groups. Stay up to date with all of the results via the website and the Seacoast United Field Hockey social media platforms.
